Western and Cowboy Theme Room Decor

There is no other American genre that has quite captured the timeless imagination of children like the Western. Through film, posters, songs, and television the stories of the 19th Century American West have continued to be told. The life of the cowboy, a gun slinging nomadic wanderer; wearing a white hat for good guys and a black hat for the bad guys, who rides a "faithful steed" was what every little boy wanted to be. The Western often depicted a society that was based on the code of honor, rather than written laws.

When designing a theme for your childs bedroom or recreation room there is no better way to go than the Wild, Wild, West. You can have the wallpaper featuring cowboys and indians and a throw rug with rodeo designs in a warm red color which sets the tone for the room. The painting parent could paint the walls to feature a big set of cacti with a beautiful setting sunset in the backdrop (as we all know that is where the cowboy hero always rides off into!). Be sure if you are going to paint that you use warm and vibrant colors as they will help accentuate the other items that are placed in the room. Bookends that look like cowboy boots and mirrors or picture frames can be a western theme, any of which will add the perfect decorating features to any cowboy/western room. For the recreation room, there different types of cowboys and horses chair and table sets or primary colored table and chair sets .

Whether you are decorating for an infant or kids there is all types of bedding that can be used to dress the western theme bedroom. For infants there are baby crib comforter sets that feature cowboys or a denim jean style of crib bedding that will do the trick as well. For kids there are all types of blankets, comforters and sleeping bags that can be used that feature such western themes as rodeos, horses, and gunslingers... it all depends on you and your little one! When finding the furniture for the room look for a rustic hickory-style dresser and have old tin and copper decorations (such as candle holders or spurs or even little horses).

After you have created the western style theme you will think that you have walked right back into the days of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday. You will have a cowboy western theme room that has a very warm and fuzzy feeling that will be just like the Wild, Wild, West but from the comfort of your very own home!
