Room Decor
Teen room decor decisions will vary depending
on the teen in question, but there are a number of different ideas
you can explore, which will hopefully produce for your teen a room
they can enjoy, and for you, something you may not find appealing,
but can certainly approve of.
GIRLS
Paint Colors
Try a heather blue or a silvery pink on the
walls if those colors appeal to her. Then paint the trim in a darker
shade of the same color with a high gloss enamel. Flea markets and
small boutiques often have vintage inspired and unsual items for
accessories.
Wall Art/Shelving
Then cover the walls with original
works of art or posters of their choice, and accessorize with
large
floor pillows/chairs in bold geometric patterns or fuzzy fur
fabrics. You can accessorize the bed with beautiful, large pillows
and a funky embellished lampshade on the nightstand. Soft and fuzzy shapless chairs, as well as fluffy area rugs made of different geometrical
shapes, and patterns can round out the room nicely.
Bedding
For starters, try replacing the ruffles and
lace with velvet
or satin fabrics, and add her favorite bright colors for accessory
pieces. Animal prints are popular with teenagers and come in a wide
variety of textures, colors and prints. Purple zebra, fuzzy oranges,
black and white zebra, leopard and tiger just to name a few. Or
go for a brighter palette of colors, such as shades of orange,
green,
yellow,
and
blue.
BOYS
Paint Colors
If this teen room decor is what interests your
child, a good idea is to paint the wall a deep or vibrant color,
such as purple or blue (or the color choice of your teen), and then
use light colored furniture such as white, to accent the walls.
Wall Art/Shelving
As far as wall art is concerned for the trendy
teen, walls murals in sports
themes, surfing
tropical themes, snowboarding
or scoreboards
are a good choice. Shelving
in basketball, baseball or football are perfect for displaying trophies.
Bedding
When it comes to being thematic, it is best
to go with the flow and decorate the room according to the topic
of interest. For instance, if your child’s teen room decor
is a based on a surf
theme, you could paint the walls ocean blue, and cover the walls
with surf and surfer murals. You can obtain bedding that has surfers
or tropical sunsets. Denim
is also a popular choice for teenage boys or picking a solid
color keeps it simple.
When considering your teen room decor options,
remember to dedicate a portion of their room for their studies.
Every teen has different study methods and there many types of desk options.
