In many homes the multi used piece of furniture like a daybed is becoming increasingly popular. This way you have a bold, strong comforter that is going to keep your guests warm at night when the daybed is put to use.  On the other hand, by keeping a lighter comforter it will allow the room to have a lighter appearance, that can be accomplished by using a much thinner material daybed comforter with light colours or no colours at all.  A note of caution, a thicker comforter may have to be dry-cleaned from time to time, while a lighter comforter generally easily be thrown in the washer, however; all if this depends on the fabric.  Also, a comforter with a higher thread count will wrinkle less, so that should be kept in mind as to whether your daybed will be more for decoration before being used as a bed or if people will be sitting on it a lot. The higher thread count will allow it to keep a more pleasant appearance throughout the wear and tear of hosting people on the furniture.
